There’s a reason why “just sleep on it” is such a common maxim in the English language: the restorative, perspective-altering potential of a good night’s rest. Sadly, one third of adults say they typically sleep less than the recommended amount—which has plenty of consequences for your health in both the near- and long-term (think concentration and memory issues, mood changes, and more). Whatever it is that’s keeping you from logging the needed number of hours, know that a new recommendation from the National Sleep Foundation may be helpful in making up for lost sleep and staving off accumulation of sleep debt.
